Writers - Directors

Ben Wright Smith

Ben Wright Smith is a writer and director living in New York City, which is what he has always wanted to be since he was little. Single and loving it, Ben is the co-creator of “The Pioneers,” an award-winning and hilarious web series about a couple attempting an open relationship. Responsible for countless hours of Internet video in the form of series, short films, and sketch comedy, Ben is a competitive candidate for anyone looking for a drinking buddy. As a film and video professional, Ben has worked with such clients as IBM, Red Bull Music Academy, AirBnB, the NYC Mayor’s Office, Amazon, Microsoft, and Calvin Klein. Born and raised in Maine, Ben likes to head north for a while every summer and remind himself why he moved to the big city: to flee the terrifying quiet of night and the petrifying proximity to Stephen King. Ben recently completed a half-hour pilot script version of “The Pioneers” with his writing partner, Ted Day. Ben is very excited to be joining SirenSong Entertainment as a writer/director. Ted Day

Ted is a filmmaker originally from central Virginia, now based in Brooklyn, NY.

At Hampshire College he created a full-length play that experimented with projection design as a narrative element. Since graduating, he relocated to New York and trainsitioned from theatre to working in film and TV as a director, writer, and producer.

In 2015, he worked on Dustin Guy Defa's Person to Person which went to Sundance and, in 2016, worked on Josephine Decker’s Movie #1.

Most recently, his directing credits include two music videos for Josh the Word (Mixtape and Fall In), one of which was featured on Nowness, Rachel Lark’s Warm, Bloody, and Tender featuring Dan Savage, and numerous narrative short films.

Two years ago, under the banner of Hustlemilk, Ted spent time on a farm along with two other members of his filmmaking collective, OFCLOUDS, creating a self-styled residency where every piece of content was shot on the property.

Two of his scripts were finalists with the David Ross Fetzer Foundation one of which, Fake Harry, was co-written with his writing partner Ben Wright Smith. Currently, he and Ben are writing, directing, and producing the series The Pioneers, which won “Best Writing” at the Brooklyn Web Fest and is nominated for “Best Comedy” and “Best Directing” at the Indie Series Awards 2017.
