Lisa Joyce

Lisa stars as Frieda on Issa Rae's award winning show, Insecure (HBO).

Other selected TV and film credits include: Ricki and the Flash (dir. Jonathan Demme), Billy+Billie (DirectTV), The Following (FOX), Boardwalk Empire (HBO), The Good Wife (CBS), Law & Order:SVU (NBC), The Messenger (dir. Oren Moverman), Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight (dir. Stephen Frears) and A Master Builder (Andre Gregory’s adaptation of the Ibsen classic, dir. Jonathan Demme). 

Lisa made her Broadway/ West End debut in La Bete and appeared alongside Cherry Jones in the national tour of Doubt (Helen Hayes nomination). Some of her favorite Off-Broadway credits include: Nora and Delia Ephron’s Love, Loss and What I Wore and Soho Rep.’s The Ugly One (Drama Desk nomination). Lisa has performed at Steppenwolf, The Atlantic, The Public, New York Theater Workshop, The Signature, CSC, Barrow Street, The Rattlestick, and The Studio Theater in D.C. (Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress, Blackbird).

Lisa’s original screenplay Treehuggers was named a semi-finalist for the Academy of Arts and Sciences prestigious Nicholl Fellowship and her short films Fell (writer/ producer) & Casualties (actor/ producer) played at the following festivals; Brooklyn Film Festival (Audience Award, Casualties), Kansas City International, Nantucket International, Windy City International and Citizen Jane (among others). Originally from Chicago, Lisa currently lives in the Bay area with her husband and their wonderful cat.
